I first met Veronica and Ryan towards the beginning of their planning. Veronica was a sweet, smiling bundle of nerves. She and Ryan had just recently gotten engaged, and she came prepared with her checklist of everything to ask your wedding photographer. I’d like to think I passed with flying colors.
We did their engagement session on the University of Oregon campus, and Veronica was the first person I had ever photographed who was WISHING for rain, and indeed there was rain in the forecast for the day. She seemed downright bummed when we actually had dry weather – and then it happened. It rained! She pulled out her clear umbrella and was simply elated.
Well, I’m happy to say it rained on their wedding day as well. No, we didn’t get any downpours. It didn’t even rain any time that she was outside. But it sprinkled, and we all know that rain on your wedding day means good luck. I managed to get an awesome, moody shot of her gown outside right before it did start to come down, and then got back into the country club. By ceremony time, there was only that beautiful, glowy September light and a hint of an autumn chill.
Poor Ryan though… he was fighting a cold and though I could tell he was feeling it, he didn’t let it keep him from kissing on and embracing his bride.
I’m so thrilled for you both. I LOVED our photographic adventure, and wish you all the best.
